Clean the avocado seed and stick three toothpicks horizontally around the fattest part of the seed. Use the toothpicks to suspend the seed, fat side down, into a glass filled with water. A sunny windowsill and a bit of patience are required when sprouting avocado seeds. It may take a couple of weeks for the roots to sprout but, once they do, the action happens pretty fast after that.
